Get up close to live native animal species and observe them as babies and adults. Learn about each animal’s basic needs for survival.


At the end of the program the student will be able to:

  • Give a characteristic about each the five main types of animals
  • Identify an animal by sight and describe how different animals feel
  • Understand what animals need to survive
  • Understand why animals are different from each other

Methods and Activities: Live animals, museum collections, bio facts, and hands on experiences

Key Vocabulary: Mammal, reptile, bird, amphibian, invertebrate, fish

Curriculum Standards: All preschool programs are aligned with Foundations: Early Learning Standards for North Carolina and Strategies for Guiding Their Success.
