The North Carolina Science Festival is a multi-day celebration showcasing science and technology all around the state. With over 400 public events and 200 school events planned across the state, Discovery Place Nature is connecting you with some of the local events happening near Freedom Park in Charlotte.

Check out some of the exciting events Discovery Place Nature has planned for the 2018 NC Science Festival:

  • Busy Bees: Wednesday, April 4 & Saturday, April 7, 12:30 – 1:00 p.m.
Bees are one of nature’s greatest pollinators. Talk to some of Discovery Place Nature's beekeepers and learn about the wonderful hives we have here at the Museum. We'll also tell you how to help bees work hard by creating a pollinator garden at home.
  • The Seeds We Eat: Wednesday, April 11 & Saturday, April 14, 12:30 – 1:00 p.m.
Join us for a reading of Eric Carle's Tiny Seed and then explore some of the wonderful seeds that we eat. Children can make a tasty fruit and veggie rainbow as they explore and investigate the plant life cycle.
  • Creature Feature: Bird Lore & MoreSaturday, April 21, 9:00 a.m. – noon
Who’s up in the trees hooting, twittering and tweeting away? Fly on down to Discovery Place Nature as we spend a morning with our feathered friends. Enjoy crafts, story times, animal encounters, and special flight demonstrations by local falconers with native birds of prey.
  • International Astronomy Day: Saturday, April 28, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Today, all around the world people are taking part in a celestial celebration. On International Astronomy Day join us for special presentations of our full-dome movies, such as One World, One Sky and Back to the Moon, as well as interactive planetarium presentations and special programs.

All activities are included with Museum admission.
